Recently I was contacted by a representative for THERA-GESIC. I was asked if I was interested in trying their product.
Well I’m always up for trying something new so I said yes.
The product arrived the next day and as luck would have it I was in need of some relief from my aching muscles and joints. Lucky for me they sent the Maximum Strength formula, because I was really feeling awful.
I have to admit, I have tried many pain relieving rubs with varying degrees of success. I had never tried this brand before so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The cream applied easily with a moderate minty scent. The directions say to apply a thin layer for a mild effect, 2 layers for a strong effect and 3 layers for a very strong effect. Well I was feeling crummy and I didn’t want to see what layers one or two did, so I went straight to 3 layers.
Initially the mint did cool the area, but not to a point of cold. That sensation did not last long. It did have a mild warming effect, but it was the pain relief that I was most impressed with. It did what it said it was and it relieved my muscle and joint pain that the NSAIDs alone were not. It says it can be used 3 to 4 times daily and I did need to reapply to some of the worst areas but by the next morning, the areas I treated felt great.
Since my initial trial, I have used the product several times. I tried it for mild and moderate pain using one and two coats and have been happy with the results.
The scent does fade on the skin, but not on any fabric that may have touched the treated area. The directions state that “Showering or washing the area after application of THERA-GESIC will leave the area fragrance-free without diminishing the therapeutic effect. Avoid contact with clothing or other surfaces.”
So I probably should have washed the area afterwards. But at the time I wasn’t really concerned about my pj’s, I just wanted to feel better. And the scent washed out of the clothes so it really wasn’t a big deal. All in all I am really happy with this product.
