Gary S. Firestein, MD, of UC San Diego Medical Center speaks about innovative treatments for rheumatoid arthritis including promising new findings with inhibitors of signal transduction. It is good to know that there are new treatment options on the horizon for those whose current therapy is unsuccessful. There is not a one size fits all remedy for this disease. I think that it is important to have choices and options.

How are you feeling? I think healing thoughts for you often.
It’s funny that you wrote this Cathy because you have been on my mind lately. I am hoping that you are improving:)
i am visiting with my daughter and 2 grand children, also i suffer with RA
The state i reside in is arkansas, and family members are in south dakota. The trip was tiring, the firstime with RA i choose air travel, my knees after the getting to my daughter, hurt so bad, also it appear the flight was a throw back, hurting now worse than ever, please if you can give me some clues how to make my 6 days ther rest of my trip go well. hate to come this far and cannot enjoy.
Hi Brenda,
Inflammation is very common after air travel. Things that have helped me in the past are drinking plenty of water and eating things like ginger, garlic, pineapple and cherries. These food fight inflammation. I would stay away from processed foods as well. You can try an epsom salt bath. If you can’t get in or out of the bath ( I have had that problem from time to time), make a paste of epsom salts and warm water and put it on the effected joint, wrap it in a warm damp towel and let the epsom salts do their thing. I hope some of these ideas help and the rest of your trip improves
